A story about an anthill and what we learn from it.
Redirecting to the essay…
A second long-form descended from Canon XXIII, in six movements. The first four walk through an anthill the way the first essay did, but with one substitution: this time the city has agency, a queen, and a death the city does not survive. The last two leave the hill for a field, two children, a soccer ball, and a small bronze plaque twenty years later that says only ANTHILL PARK, a city was here.
Amethyst-tinted, in honor of Nif — for the grief at the center of it. Descended from Canon XXIII.
